Default I need help!

For the past couple of days I have had very weird problem happening with my website. Anytime I try to go to http://video.geektalkshow.com it will load initally. If I refresh the page or click on a link I can no longer access this site OR ANY OTHER OF my sites for at least 15 minutes. I get no error message the connection just times out. I get the same results from different isp's. I tried it on Suddenlink, ATT, and my job's corparate network all the same results. It's almost like the server is banning ip's on temporary basis. Has anything changed in the past few days that would cause this? This is very fustrating. Has anyone else seen this problem?

It works fine for me. I clicked on several links, refreshed the home page several times, and it worked each time. You might try submitting a ticket to support and include your IP address so that they can check the logs and see if they can help.

I call support and they hung up in my face after being unable to find a problem. I have been with this group for years and I am almost done with them.

Good evening,

I do see the issue. I loaded the page and it loaded fine the first time. After that I could not click any links which is what you are having trouble with. You need to email support@hostgator.com this exact post and it will get to one of our Administrators. Off the bat the only thing I can think of is if you are on a Shared/Reseller server and using MySQL processes that you are going over the 15second query limit and they are getting killed off. If these are not using MySQL connections then its more than likely going to be a coding issue. Not knowing what kind of account it is makes this a little hard to diagnose. Send an email in and i'm sure you will get an answer and hopefully resolution as to why this is happening

Thanks,
Josh Loe

Angry Re: I need help!

I already sent the info a couple of times before but I just sent it again. I keep getting the same response. They are unable to duplicate my error! But we will see if someone will really listens this time and don't blow me off as I don't know what I am talking about.

I tried the taking a look at some of the more interesting links and it looked like there were no pages for each of the links.

Okay they figured out what is causing all the problems. One of my scripts is setting off the server's firewall but the problem is still not fixed nor did they give me enough detailed information to go into the script to fix it myself. This is it I'm done....

Hopefully this script isn't causing other users of your shared server any problems.

If it's your script, or more likely a script you copied from somewhere else, then really it's up to you to fix it, disable it, or find an alternative script. It's hardly HG's problem to fix your code is it?

If HG has helped you find the problem you should be thanking them, and then attending to the problem yourself, not making it sound like it's their fault.

All excellent points...and, in general, is there something about videos that would be chewing up the server or processes?

Talking Re: I need help!

Script errors are not their fault but the fact that I had to stand on my head and whistle dixie to get that inforamtion is. The server itself never gave me an error meaasge and the problem JUST started and I and been running this script for MONTHS without ANY problems. Something on the server side was changed or tweaked. None of the videos are not hosted by hostgator my site actually uses very little bandwith. However the problem is fixed. Once support let me see the apache error logs I was able to pinpoint the problem. There was some renegade code in my style sheet (thanks to the script's author) causing their security module (on steroids) to flip out. I cleaned it up. Everything is good now and life is great.
