Mysql slow to connect

I have a reseller account.

Initially mysql connected almost instantly.

Now each connection takes between 5 and 15 seconds to complete.

This happens even late at night when none of my clients are using mysql databases.

Is normal in the reseller accounts of hostgator?

What may be causing this problem?


I have a point of sale using these databases.

Some of you know how to keep connections open to minimize reconnections (now take a long time).
