Default mySQL admin direct link

Anyone know if there is a way to directly open up the mySQL Admin app without going in through the cpanel? My corporate firewall blocks ports 2086 and 2087 so I can't get to the cpanel from work.

You can use cPanelproxy for cPanel if those ports are blocked. See this thread.
Instead of phpMyAdmin you could also use a mysql client app to administer the database. See this thread.

Stef.

Is there a way for me to see Stef’s reply to this post without waiting the five days now for permission to follow the links he provides? I do not understand why paying customers can not be automatically given permission for this forum. I thought the purpose of the forum was to partly to try and lighten the load on support and that is what I am basically trying to do.

Hi,

for cPanelProxy: you can find it at http://cpanelproxy.net/
for connecting through a Mysql admin app:
before you can connect with your database manager you need to add an Access Host. To do this go to your cPanel, select "MySQL Databases" and near the bottom of that screen add an Access Host. Easiest is to use a wildcard (%) in combination with the domain of your ISP like: %.yourprovider.com
The thread mentioned www.navicat.com as Mysql client app, but ofcourse you can use others like MySQL Administrator, phpMyAdmin on your local computer, etc.

If you still don't have access to the forum, let me know.

Stef.

Thank you Stef. I'll try a wildcard and my provider as an access host. I'm using MySQL Administrator as well as MySQL Query.

If you just want to open phpmyadmin without going thru cpanel, just open via a bookmark, the port is on the url, so no biggy. the name/password is the same as cpanel's one

Just go to phpmyadmin through cpanel, then bookmark the link and voila

Just make sure you log out when you're done, as HG have it set up really weird so the session never ends and anyone can get in if you just close it, does not just allow access to phpmyadmin but the entire cpanel even thou you have never been there.

One way of giving other users access to your mySQL database is installing your own custom phpMyAdmin in your domain. The newest versions of phpMyAdmin even include fairly simple setup scripts to get you through the process.

Thanks true but if you do that then it's one more thing to be taking care of in terms of scripts version and security breaches. Unless you use some kind of http autentication with .htaccess but again you are going back to the cpanel solution.
