All servers were upgraded to MySQL 4.0

Anyone running vbulletin boards will be seeing the error "thread.MYI"
The threadtable is corrupt run repair.php from the extras folder to fix this. For more info visit http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...ght=thread.myi

I run PHPBB and hadn't even noticed the upgrade (apart from an hour or two of database downtime over the last week or so. ) until I altered a few files and it threw up a couple of errors. But the errors gave me the opportunity to fix a few things and upgrade my PHPBB anyway, so all was good.

I think it's great that you upgraded to 4.0.x

Some hosts aren't even doing so, I've was stuck with 3.23.56 for ever on my old host, sure it was stable, but upgrading just makes sense.

Just joined, look forward to a great hosting experience!!!

Ohhhh We had this problem back when you did this, but we weren't and aren't running VBulletin. But we were rather baffled by the missing .myi file. I wish I had known of this forum before -- it certainly would have answered this question! But like jas, it got me to upgrade a few things and all is well now

Ever since I got my first few minutes of vBulletin, I was in love.

Fast, less files, small file sizes, and more features.

I have been around YabbSE, EZBoard, Boardnation, Proboards, and PhpBB for about 2 years. I ove vBulletin.

Skafia - Why do you hate vBuleltin?

I don't know about Skafia, but there are a LOT of things I hate about VBulletin.

1) Design ... oh wait, what design? Almost all VB's look the same.
2) It's EXPENSIVE
3) It costs money
4) Technically you aren't allowed to edit their scripts or to make your own custom scripts. They expect you to buy scripts and updates from them.
5) Did I mention it cost money and is expensive?

Yeah... Besides that, I can do EVERYTHING on my site that VB can and it didn't cost me a dime AND I can edit things as I need to or as I see fit. Therefore I have a lot more flexibility in what I can do. It's also MUCH easier to modify and administrate. I can add a module in a matter of seconds. Can you do that in VB? Nope.

True, but vBulletin is for more advanced webmasters. That is why is costs $.

I agree, it is ridiculous to have to pay for a forum similier to Phpbb, but it is worth it to me.

There are alot of features in vBulletin that are not in Phpbb, or in any hacks. As for buying VBulletin Hacks, I think THOSE should be free. Its one thing to get a forum, but getting the hacks for free is useless unless you buy the forum itself, so they would still make money.

For more advanced webmasters? Hah. No offense, but I don't buy that for a second. My site can do more than any VBB I have ever seen. Name just ONE thing a VBB can do that I can't.

PS I'm running PHP Nuke 6.8 right now.

Just the overall of vBulletin.

Don't get me wrong, I love PhpBB, and I see very little differences, but for me, those small differences matter.

I downloaded a copy of vBuleltin, insatalled it for a day, then removed it. So I did not get much time to see what I liked in it, or what the features I enjoyed are. lol. Once I buy vBulletin, I will be able to give examples.

Well trust me, after you waste all that money on VBB, you'll see that there is literally nothing you can do that I can't do. I've been there, done that and VBB is a waste of money. If you can code in PHP yourself, you have no boundaries. If you're good at it anyways We started out with VBB and it was absolutely horrible. And the post and user tables are non transferrable to any other type of board, so once we ditched VBB we had to start all over again. Also know that VBB is ONLY a bulletin board and NOT a portal. Since I run a portal there is sooo much more I can do with my site. I definitely consider that a bonus

Correction, there are Portal mods for vBulletin.

I do not know where, but I have seen them MANY times.

Once I purchase vBuleltin, I will add a link to the mod in this post.

http://www.hpisavageforum.com/

There is an example.

It is called vbHome (lite) v4.1 or vbHome (Do not know the current version #)

www.teckwizards.com was their site, but they moved to a new one, and I seem to have lost the link.

NP. I will want to get that too.

I just hate spending $ for it all. Being 15, with no job just makes it harder.

Then seriously -- VBB isn't worth it for you. I've used it, I know. And anymore people are really getting away from it because it just isn't worth the money when PHP can do everything VBB can for free. And for the record, I have no trouble with file size or speed. And I have a high traffic site.

I have used vBuleltin, and if thats what I say I want, then that is what I am getting.

Everyone has their opinoins. I can see your side, and I do agree, but I like vBulletin just a bit more.

Q. What version of MySQL are you using?
A. We are using version 4.0.15
Above it says 4.0, and in the FAQ is says 4.0.15.

Maybe 4.0 is short for 4.0.15? I just want to make sure.
