Lightbulb My Suggestion for SECURITY PURPOSE (Dedicated Server Owner)

Hello,

I am an owner for a dedicated server from (HOSTGATOR) .
I have a good Idea for SECURITY PURPOSE
My Idea is : a logo or banner from HOSTGATOR telling -warning- the visitor that they are in a secured site from HOSTGATOR.
*See an example from a website hosting by Godaddy:

However, If we have any attack (as Owners of dedicated servers ),then staff will fix it strait a way.

Hoping you take my Suggestion seriously.

This is not a good idea as not every page on every HG dedicated server is "secured" using SSL, nor should they be.

You would only confuse site visitors as they will assume that every page on a HG dedicated server is using SSL when it's not.

Also, I don't expect many people here with dedicated servers would want to have HG logos on their pages, especially if those pages aren't using SSL or if they have purchased their SSL elsewhere.

If someone here is using SSL, they may or may not wish to display a "logo" showing which brand of SSL they are using, but that would be up to the site owner.

Lastly, HG will only "fix it" once you submit a ticket, so the phrase "HG staff will fix it straight away" wouldn't be accurate.

Realistically, I wouldn't advertise that you have protection, that seems to make people (especially hackers) mad, and they'll bring it down just to test it. You can purchase a firewall to put in front of your server though, and it can filter attacks pretty well. Also, be aware, just because you have a firewall, doesn't make your server secure. You will want to audit it from either us or an outside vendor. We can mitigate most attacks if you ask us to, but more times than not, we'll put it behind a Cisco Guard, and let that filter the attack. Your server will still get massive traffic, but only from the guard proxy ips. If you want to email support and have us lock down your server, just put in a ticket, and we'll be happy to quote you for the work. We could probably swing you a Cisco ASA or X16 hardware firewall for an extra fee per month. The icon though, that would be pretty neat to have.
