First off I am not pointing the finger at anyone, however I feel some people are asking way too much of support so I have written a few of reasons why users should probably have a little more patience when they require help.
Most of you will be paying less then $14.95 a month that’s hardly anything and most of that money goes towards paying for support. HostGator make only a small profit per person and yet some of you expect service which goes way beyond what you’re paying, you should think yourself lucky that you have access to services such as live chat rather then complain when they take a few minutes to reply. You should not expect support to know the answer straight away. I realise a lot of the problems that occur aren’t your fault and you might well be annoyed that something on your site is down or not working properly but many of the problems that occur are due to bugs that HostGator can’t fix themselves, instead they have to go ask for support from the makers of software, these companies can be very slow to reply and often they are the reason why your problems can’t be sorted quickly. I also have a few suggestions to HostGator for making the your support more efficient firstly make access to the support forums open to anyone who joins even if you block them from asking questions for the first 72hrs you should allow people to be able to read what people have asked before this would probably help the majority of people and lower the number of repeat questions you get. Use your knowledge base more, I am sure you have had more ticket questions then that so why not put update your knowledge base more often? Even 1hr a day would make a huge difference. |

Agreed. HostGator's support is excellant, especially compared to other companies. The reason they can't get some things fixed is because they aren't the kind of people that know the exact source code to cPanel or that kind of thing to the letter. You shouldn't be expecting them to be an expert. They're experts at using the software, not making it.

The only way you're going to be able to know that kind of things is if you get your own dedicated server. You can check any other host. None will even tell you when things are going on. And even if you had your own dedicated server you'd have to be knowldgeable enough to run it and know when things are going on and what to do about it.
