I have only been with 4 paid hosts, but most of them didn't turn out very well. The first I was with was Bcswebco, I was hosted by a friend. Bcs is a decent host, but he was paying $20 a month for 600mb space which is kind of expensive. I then went to elinuxservers, but they weren't up very long. The next one I decided to pay for was matrix studio, and it was horrid. They was great for about 2 months and then the downtime struck, they was down almost the whole month of march. I then ended up here, I have only been here for a day but so far I like it better than the other 3 combined. The server speed is just incredible, my ftp client goes from connecting to connected in less than a second. I will recomend hostgator to anyone who asks me about hosting because I know how annoying it is wasting money on a crappy host.

I know this is off topic, but, Tuxmaster, why don't you just cancel your account with HG if you're having so many problems?
