My Review of Host Gator

Its been a few months since I have been hosted by you guys and have loved it from day one that I came aboard.

First of all I gave it a try with my second website that I created when I came here.

My other website was still being hosted by Invision at the time which in a short time, I had moved over to this account.

Let me explain some problems I had with Invision as a hosting company.

The biggest problems I had with them was that whenever I wanted to ftp files, it always would time out and then there was the issue about the site going down constantly and drove me nuts. Then there was issue that subdomains didn't want to work there. They advertised that they were able to have more than one website on your cpanel but that was not the case. You can park your websites, but that was about it. When I tried removing my second domain name from being parked, it would not unpark.

Now for what I love about this host. All of those problems I do not have. I have not had to contact support yet here which is something I don't like doing unless it becomes necessary. I like being able to do everything on my own. Thats the way I learn by doing it myself.

Some other things I like is that for the more space and features, I pay less than Invision. I love the scripts that are included in the account. That was something that Invision did not have. They did not allow a whole lot if I remember right. The biggest one that I can remember is the whole thing with the message board. They would only allow their own message boards and not any of the other message boards. They claimed there were security issues with the other ones. I think their goal was to sell their boards over actually letting their customers choose what boards they want to use.

The only problem I have for both, but I have not sat down long enough to go and figure that part out. Thats a minor issue that I have a work around with. When I use my emails from my website's address in outlook. I am able to receive email but am not able to send email from the account.

In the end, I love this host and hope to be a long time customer in coming years.

Try changing your outgoing port to 26 if you are using a external email program such as Thunderbird or Outlook.

I'll try that but its no big deal if it does not work. I just use my isp webaddress to send mail out. All else fails if I really need to send mail with that email address, I'll go into my cpanel and send mail out that way.

Yes it did work. Thank you very much. Anyway I am still very impressed with you guys. This message board is an good example of what you guys can do. A lot of hosting companies are more interested in getting their money. That may be true here also, but I also see great customer service right here on the board. You are interested in making your customers happy. By the way you treat everyone on the board, gives me the indication as to how you would treat me if I had any major problems in the future. I very much would tell anyone whom needs a web host to come to you guys. The money is well worth the price and the up time is as advertised. I have not had any down time, which I very much like. Keep up the good work.
