Default My Questions...

I believe I want to sign up for H.G....

I presently have another host and want to transfer within the next week. I need 100gb+ storage and 50gb+ bandwidth, so it seems that the 'baby' account will work for me, but I need to know what the transfer rates are. Anyone have a test file or a large MP3 file that I could use as a test to see how fast the transfer speeds are?

Anyone here do any record label/music hosting? I'd like to see what your experience with H.G. has been... I have music and promotional DJ mixes from my artists that are downloaded by customers, so I want to make sure that's a fit with this host.

Awesome... thx!

I signed up and I've been transferring domains over... one thing I've noticed is that when I go to 'Add Domain', it automatically creates it AND as a subdomain to the main account domain.

So if:

dog.com is the main domain
cat.dog.com is also created when I add cat.com as a domain.

Frankly, I don't need these subdomains to be added and it only confuses things when adding email accounts and doing other maintenence. Anyone know a fix? I tried to delete the subs, but I receive an error that 'cannot remove, because it is tied to'.. or something to that effect.

This is a cPanel behavior and is basically a trade-off in order to be able to create your own add-on domains.

ahh. Well, it's not the end of the world.. just an annoyance. Other than that, I like the cPanel interface. I'm still getting used to how this host operates (cPanel), because I've been with my old host for about 3 years.

Oh... I always wondered why the subdomain was necessary for add-on domains.

FWIW, I love HG so far... super fast support (minutes in some cases!) and none of the issues I had with my previous host.

One reason subdomains are created is so that you can use the subdomain statistics tools with addon domains.

and the subdomains / subdirectories shouldn't be a big issue, just be sure that you don't post a link to cat.dog.com or dog.com/cat anywhere/anytime.
