The domain is my favourite part, kinda catchy...
2nd favourite: the 'gay chat' banner ad - I can see how it relates to the content and potential viewers. Regards, Steve Xx

Yes, a classic daabom2002 domain name with redundant words piled on--surprised 'tube' isn't there somewhere.
I can't decide whether my favorite is the blog categories with (0) entries or the 'team of 5' with, between them, three qualifications. |

Believe it or not, I'm trying really hard not to be critical here...
That being said, I can't help but wonder why so many sites seem intent on proclaiming themselves to be number one at [fill in the blank]. While I can only speak for myself, I would be quite pleased to be second or third best at pretty much anything.

I worked with a team like that before. 1 qualified guy and the other 4 were about half qualified, so a total of three qualifications.

I haven't seen the ads, because I'm not going to turn off three different ad filters, but I'd expect that the gay ones are inadvertent, a result either of the Google ad plopping algorithm interpreting his gmpg.org/friends network header profile as of interest to the gay community, or the gmpg.org/friends network plopping ads from the gay community.
In any case, here's why we can assume it was non-intentional. Combining two large niche markets would actually be pretty good marketing--there are a lot of gay people, there are a lot of people interested in technology, and a Venn diagram would show that the intersection is probably substantial. But our daabomb2002 appears to think backwards (like listing lots of categories that don't have blog posts yet but not making new categories as the posts occur, such as VOIP for the Skype item). He seems to favor the 'pick the lint off hugely successful concepts and try to get it to stick to him' approach, rather than looking for an unserved niche or creating a new one. |

You mean blog where feeds are available for content.

In each case, he seems to have created a name that would evoke associations with a big concept, then tried to generate content to hop on that concept's bandwagon. It's going backwards. Probably much better chances doing it the other way around--come up with some content that ties into the big concept, then devise a name. Last edited by gwyneth; 07-19-2007 at 12:43 PM. |
