My HostGator experience

Just wanted to share my experience while using hostgator's services for a few days:

I first tried to order a Dedicated Server (unmanaged), and we had problems with this as when I was told there was one available before I ordered, and then when I ordered, I went into Live Chat (expecting one still to be available) but was told there were none available for the past two weeks. I don't know what that was about, but we needed to get off of my VPS service.

Okay, now all that is done. We're currently on the "Baby" shared account.
I think we're doing great on the shared account.
Now, this is what really made me think: HostGator called me (moments ago) to verify that the name that the account is registered under (Devin) was not a victim of PayPal theft. That was a great thing to do, I mean sure, a few days after registration but that's great.

So, in all, I think HostGator is great when it comes to shared hosting and servers that are shown as available on their website, but when it comes to unmanaged servers, it could be handled better, or at least updated with the Live Chat staff. (talked over the phone with whoever had just called asking for Devin.)

Thanks for the review. Our unmanaged servers are always in demand so we only have a few in our inventory at any given time if any at all are available. The best way to check on this would be to shoot an email to sales@hostgator.com so one of our sales admins can pull up the server list and find out for you.
