My Experiences at HostGator

I have now been hosted with HostGator for 2 months, and feel that I have enough experience with them to share my impressions.

In 2 months, I have experienced 2 occasions of downtime, both due to things beyond HostGator's control (Datacenter fire and harddrive crash). On both occasions, I was able to reach someone at support either on the phone or through IM to find out what was going on and find out when they estimated it would be fixed. And on both occasions, things were fixed very promptly and with technical expertise. Also, HostGator made good on their 99% Uptime Guaranteed policy, even when the downtime was not their fault. It's nice to find a host that keeps their word, and doesn't just make excuses.

Other than those 2 downtimes I have only had one other problem (a DNS resolver issue) and HostGator was able to work with me and resolve that in a timely fashion as well.

In general, my site has always had plenty of bandwidth here (fast loading times) and I haven't had any problems with CPanel. Both of which I had many issues with at my last host.

Overall I am very happy with my service and the technical support here, and expect to stay for quite a while. I will be recommending HostGator to anyone who asks me about WebHosting.
