Default my domain appears as a sub domain

When I log into my main domain it throws up the hostgator getting started page. If i go to mydomain/mydomain then I get my website. How can I make my main website appear at www.mydomain.com.? All my other subdomains and addon domains work fine. Do I have to place the files into my root folder?

You have to upload your files to the public_html folder.

Yeah I know that but in my public_html folder is a fold called (EG) "mywebsite" and if I place the files in there, my domain name that I signed up to HG with still shows getting started page. If, however, I put in mywebsite/mywebsite then the website shows. that don't work for me. If I load any other website in such as mywebsite2 then they work fine. I am asking as it is the domain name that I signed up with, does it have to go into the root as opposed to addons and subdomains

The files for the domain you signed up with go in public_html. Ensure that your index is called index.html. Don't forget to clear your browser cache.

Oh no it is always so easy when you know what you are doing. I clicked that all you have to do is to unload the files into the public_html as you said. Then the site works fine. I can stop feeling quite so stoopid now. thanks all.
