Default Multiple Domains/Sites

I have two domains, and two separate sites. I'm switching to HostGator soon, and am wondering if I can have my domains go to separate folders so it doesn't look like I have two sites running. ie I don't wont to have it forwarded to another page, want it to be totally seamless.
Can I do this with a shared hosting plan?

Your main domain resides in the public_html directory, and an addon domain resides in a sub-directory of public_html.
Your visitors can't see that the addon domain is in a subdirectory.

If you are worried that if a visitor goes to www.addondomais.com they would be redirected to www.maindomain.com/addondomain, it's not how it works
