Unhappy Moving site

I signed up today and everything was great, my account was active in few minutes, cPanel has all the features that I will ever need, server is fast...
and then a huge dissapointment - I can't move my web site from old host without downloading it first becouse that option in cPanel (backup to a remote ftp) doesn't work with HostGator And I really needed that one becouse my site is pretty big and it would take days to download and upload everything

Talking Re: Moving site

Hi,

I think it should work server to server... check this out:

http://www.hostgator.com/ticket/inde...od_id=2&id=166

Otherwise talk to support they should be able to help you in making a smooth move over.

Antonio

I tried but it doesn't work and I asked them about moving my site and they told me that I have to download it first
This is really weird becouse all other hosts were offering this as a the best and easiest solution ...

I wasn't even aware it was disabled, and its pretty strange that it is I'm guessing its just a simple ftp connection server to server don't see reason for HG's server to refuse it if you give it valid login data. I would take ths up with support again until you get a satisfactory answer.

I think he wanted to avoid DL'ing his backup and then uploading it that's where the remote download is handy you set up a server to server transfer, in this case he would have his old host create a backup and upload it directly to his space on HG.
