i have over 10+ domains hosted @ another service and its time for me to move them to my new hostgator account, includes sql databases as well as email setups on cpanel.
Is there any way to make all this easy? or i have to go into ftp's manually download data from old one and upload to my new + same for the databases , mail setups etc..? PS: My old hosting is also Cpanel , same version as hostgator. |

Hello afx,
A- From what i read you do not seem familiar with the cPanel functions then i will show you the steps one by one for each domains: 1- Click on the cPanel "Backups" icon and click on the link "Generate/Download a Full Backup" located at the top of the page. The two important values to check are the two first ones "Backup Destination: Home Directory" and "Email Address: YourEmail@YourDomain.com" just click on "Generate Backup". 2- When you receive the "Backup done" confimation eMail, just read it to check if everything went smoothly and then download the backup file with ftp from this domain root directory for your own safekeeping. B- When finished for all your domains follow these step : B1- If you want HostGator to do the transfer for you : (Can take 48 hours) 1- Now you should send a ticket to the HostGator "transfer team" telling them the domains you want to transfer and the way to get them(filenames or ftp access account names, usernames and passwords) 2- They will tell you when evrything is done... B2- If you want to do the transfer yourself : 1- Create all your accounts with WHM for each domain you want to restore. 2- Use ftp to upload each domain recent "backup file" into their proper root directory. 3- Send a ticket to HostGator "tech support" asking them to fully restore all the domains that you will list with each of their account name. C- At the end you will have to test everything to see if anything is not working properly. (Databases, applications not design for suexec, etc...) Hope this will give you a good starting point! |
