Hi Postaldude,

What database are you trying to import from to, including versions etc..
What are the errors will be helpful as well in figuring out what went wrong.

Thx

It sounds like your database dump is large, so phpmyadmin timesout.

If you ticket support, they will import it for you.

what i did was upload the database file, onto my domain and told support where it was and also gave them the name of my previous database on the old server so that they could recreate that. Is that the right procedure?

Yes, upload the .sql file to your account with HG and tell them what database you want it imported into and the path to the .sql file

They shouldn't take more than an hour, normal tickets seem to take around 30 mins for me.

Live chat might be able to do it for you instantly, but I am not sure, they might just tell you to ticket support.

Did your old host use cPanel? If so then you should ask HG to transfer the account over. That would include all databases, email accounts, etc. You can make the request at https://secure.hostgator.com/transfer.php.

You would have to supply the IP address and the old cPanel login info to have the account transferred. If you have a complete backup you can upload that to your account here and ask HG to restore it. If you only have the database backups then you would need to create the databases in your cPanel and then ask HG to restore the backups.
