Default Moving clients across slowly on a reseller account

Hi all,
I'm just about to move my reseller account over to hostgator from a different reseller. However, I'd like to be able to move my clients across one at a time to ensure that everything comes across properly (and the logistics are easier that way!)

Is it possible to set up my reseller account on hostgator then request my client sites one at a time?
I've also got a shared account with hostgator already - can this easily be moved under my reseller hosting account?

Many thanks!

Why not? Once you have a reseller account with HG, your own phpmyadmin, shell access, etc. even you can do that without asking anything to HG support. Moving a site is fairly easy, and you can do that by :

1. From WHM, create a new package, and then new account for the new site.
2. zip all your files and upload them to your account using sFTP. Unzip them using SSH once uploaded.
3. Import your database linked to that site (fairly easy as well, if you have phpmyadmin in both accounts).
4. Change links etc (like database name, etc.) once imported.
5. Check if everything is working.
6. Change the nameserver. And that's it. Easy, isn't it? Now you take your time, move all the sites in one day, or move one site a year, that's ur choice.

If your a PHP developer and have absolute paths in your scripts, don't forget to change those as well. When you re-create your MySQL database, also make sure that you change the info in your connect script. CPANEL on Host Gator prefixes the mysql datbases with your user / user account name.

So explain to me how you do this? I'm a new reseller here and looking to move clients over myself in exactly this way. But what I've been told by support is I'm not allowed to use SSH unless the domain is mine and not my client's (I have SSH enabled on my main reseller account, but on nothing else I've moved over)? I really need to be able to do this, but without SSH this may not be feasible for me and I may have to move elsewhere.

Support ticket for my issue is IJC-543185. Its been worked, but the answer doesn't match with this (and other posts) I've read and part of what I used to make my decision to move over to HostGator. Please help clarify this as I need to decide if I'm going to move forward with this move now.

Hostgator completely takes care of reseller newbies, I should know!

Contact them (submit a ticket), tell them your situation and they'll move over the first 20 for free.

Anymore than that is like 5 or 10 bucks per account, otherwise they'll assist you if you want to do it yourself.

The only problem I can see with that is if you have Private Nameservers.

IMO the best thing would be to get all the sites transfered (they will technically be working at your old host and Hostgator. Then just change the IP's of your name servers. It is possible over the next 24-48 hours for your domains to resolve at either place until all the propagation is resolved. If you have everything working on both host it will be seemless. Your clients will never be down.
