I spoke to your sales department today regarding excess bandwidth and was informed you don't allow excess at a so much per gig rate.
My problem is this, I was planning on signing up today but have been put off by the policy that you must go up a package if you are using bandwidth in excess. I was planning on the Baby plan with 75gb bandwidth. I won't use anything near that to begin with but with forums etc I can see myself using this eventually. No problems, I can move up to the Swamp package and get 100gb bandwidth. But what if my site is doing 120 or 130Gbs or even 200gbs? Is a mighty large gap between the Swamp package and the semi dedicated one. Also a rather large jump in price for someone using between 100gbs and 400gbs of bandwidth. I think you should really create packages for 200, 300 and 400gbs of bandwidth. Or allow excess at a set rate per gb. I can't afford to have a suspended account until the next month rolls around and can't afford 75 bucks a month for something I won't use 30% of. Cheerz Ray On a side note, I spoke to your rep in the live chat box and they told me to email my questions. I did. 4 hrs later i went back to the live chat box to ask how long responses take. He said he would look into it. I cam back an hr later and he had vanished and new guy was there. He answered my question. It took 8 and a half hours for my original email to be replied too. Is this how fast your support is also? also your forum signup isn't sending out validation emails. |

Hey sorry for the delay in response. Regarding the big gap between swamp and a semi-dedicated plan though...
If you're using over 100,000mb of transfer/bandwidth per month, your site will be using a lot of system resources and CPU usage. This is why, keeping our servers optimized for everyone that is sharing it with you, we recommend going to a semi-dedicated with only 3 other users sharing that server. On a semi-dedicated, even if you're doing 500,000mb of traffic it's not going to be a detriment to other users sites or yours. Hopefully this clears up why the shared plans are layed out the way they are, but any other questions you can reply back here, or reach me via: sales@hostgator.com with "attn: chad" as the subject. Thanks... |
