Default More Detailed info on Dedicated servers

Just thought I would add that it would be nice to know what is included with your dedicated servers as far as Management goes.

I mean, managed could be just Monitering, or like LunarPages lists, it could be like this:
  • Free setup of APF Firewall and Root Kit Check on the server
  • Up to date notifications of exploits on popular third party software
  • Upgrades of kernels, php, apache and administration panels for security per user authorization (we will send notice and you can decide if you want the upgrade to be performed)
  • Monitoring of your server through Lunarpages' internal monitoring tools
  • Unlimited reboots of your server if it becomes unresponsive
  • One free third party script installation per billing year
  • Free installation of upgraded control panel
  • Free installation of Resin if needed
  • Free setup of remote backups
So, what is included with Managed Hosting from HG, Managed doesn't necessarily include all of that, so being specific helps.

Also, a nicer and more complete sitemap would be nice, there are too many hidden links on HG, like the downgrade upgrade form. I normally go to live chat only to find a link that I never new existed, I always look for a sitemap when trying to find something.

The above is just my opinion.

First, you may find this useful?

The dedicated servers come exactly as described with the features described on this site. HG does not monitor your server, reboots are free, upgrades, security patches etc. are handled if you want. They come set up basicly just like the shared servers with most any support you would need or ask for. It is recommended to have the configserver package done by most HG dedicated users

Yes that was awesome, but why not just put them on the sitemap? The sitemap should display all the available pages on the website. We shouldn't have to dig for information.

Thanks for the clarification on that, much appreciated, I still think they should list maybe in one of those hidden links, to exactly what HOSTGATOR defines as Managed Hosting for dedicated servers. I did not see one on the link above.

Yes I agree the sitemap etc should be more complete. Inverse seems to do the website and leaves much to be desired in my opinion.

When it comes to the servers, yes I agree things should be a little easier to wade through the information, but for the most part you can just be assured of service that goes beyond what they "have" to do. I have found late night server techs to be anxious to install, tweak, update or whatever. I have always disappointed them though as I like to learn to do it myself so I know what has been done and how.

I did find them very helpful in the beginning when I was receiving reports for tty errors which I had come to the conclusion was a bad cable or connection for on site access. They went through the trouble of telling me every command ran and how I could look myself. And in the end had the data center remove the troubled connection Kudos to Shashank and DaveC for that one
