Default Modifying templates

when viewing your templates (awesome selection, bravo!) the flash templates show recomended software.

Will I be able to make "basic" changes without all the software? I.e. changing words, pics, etc. on the flash parts?

Thanks bunches !

OK, as usuall, I should have done a basic search before posting this question. I do see that I "should" be able to change things, it just if I am able.

<-- Website noob

I just basicly want to start a "family blog" type site, full of pictures etc.

Thanks for any help and/or tips !

if that template is XML driven, you can make changes without the need of a special program (ie Adobe Flash - not just the player) else you will need the said application to do the modification.

If you can tell us the # of the template you are interested in, we might be able to help you more.

As for the suggestion, I would suggest that you go with non-flash template, as they are relatively easier to modify/change, can be edited with free software, can be view on all browsers without the need of special plugin (ie flash player) & more SEO friendly (tho that might not be a problem for you)

Note: iphone, ipad, ipod.... do/can not play flash!!

Alright, template 1191 for instance.

Am I able to change the text on the "home", "about me", "interests" and "contact" tabs without special software?

Am I able to change the pictures arround again, without special software?

Thanks for the help !

Have you thought about using a CMS (content management system) called WordPress? I think it would be perfect for you if you want to create a family blog with photos and that would be updated often. WordPress makes it very easy to update, and also to customize to your liking. There are thousands of free themes you can use on WordPress and are very simple to install/use.

Also, HostGator has a program called QuickInstall that lets you install WordPress onto your domain in just a few clicks. I would really check out wordpress.org and view a few sites because I think this would help you out or at least give you an alternate.

If you have any questions just ask and I might be able to help.

From what I see, there is no word of XML so you will need to edit the template in Adobe Flash.

Yeah I don't think it is going to be easy to edit the with_fl templates if you do not have Adobe Flash, or plan on obtaining it in the future. Don't worry though, you can still edit the without_fl templates either in File Manager's HTML/Code Editor, or you can use a free open-source program called Kompozer.

Kompozer can be viewed/downloaded here: http://kompozer.net

If that doesn't interest you, then I would consider checking out WordPress like I already said
