Hello,
I am new to the workings of modifying DNS, but I have a registered domain through CoCCA. When it was registered, it was pointing to a SquaredSpace account. It worked fine. However, I wanted to use it to try out Host Gator. Unfortunately, I can not determine how to make changes through CoCCA (coccaregistry.net) to modifying A and CNAME records. The previous SquaredSpace information is locked in; although, the name server information can be modified. I have sent a message to CoCCA's help desk, but, after a week, have not yet had a response. If anyone is familiar with their process or have suggestions for modification, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Last edited by cynric; 10-25-2011 at 08:23 PM. In case anyone has overstepped their knowledge level as I have, the solution is easy enough and stated in Host Gator documentation. No work needs to be done with the A and CNAME records. Simply edit the nameservers for the CoCCA registered name. It will prompt explaining that the original servers will be removed. Select OK. Enter in the two nameservers Host Gator provided in the registration email; no need to set an IP. Wait the DNS propagation time period and you should be set.
Good luck. |

Yup, whether registered through CoCCA or any other registar, no need to edit the CNAME, MX etc. Just use the Hostgator name servers and the rest will be automatically set up.
