Default Migrating a subdomain to an addon

Can someone take a minute and tell me the best way to do this? I would like the domain I just registered to match the address of the site, so I have to move it. I know that just copy/pasting the files will break all the links. Plus I want to know the right way to do this, if possible.
Thanks in advance.

You have a couple of alternatives. Is the subdomain on HG?

Is what you want to move script-controlled (i.e., blog, forum, CMS, etc.) or a collection of separate pages? If the latter, how many separate pages?

It's an index.html, linked to a forum, with a phpformgenerator script (that I can't get to work anyway).

Do you mean there's an index page that links to the forum elsewhere on your site, or that the forum itself is on the subdomain?

If the forum itself has to be moved, there may be valuable "how-to" stuff at the forum app's own forum.

Thanks for staying with me Gwyneth.

I installed the phpBB forum and the phpformgenerator via fantastico onto the subdomain. Now I need to move the whole thing to the addon domain so that I can use my registered domain for that site. I was hoping there was an easy way to do without having to use my text editor to find every link (although, edit plus does this pretty easily). I was just hoping there was a tool on the cp that did it.

It's not going to be as bad as you think, in some respects. How long has the forum been up--in other words, are there any members and posts?

Thanks for bearing with me--a whole winter's worth of mold, spores, dust, etc. is floating around on the way out the door.

See this, from the phpbb site. It references its knowledgebase, but discusses the most important subtleties:

phpBB • View topic - Move PHPBB3 to other domain

That'll take care of the forums, thanks!

In answer to your question, everything about the site is brand new. I have only set up the forums, there are no members and no posts.

I'm especially concerned about the phpformgenerator, though. I don't know if just moving the script will work. And their support forums are almost no help at all.

Get everything else working, and folks here can probably help with phpformgenerator, or suggest a substitute.

If the site is brand new with no members and posts I would suggest just reinstalling everything from scratch. It may require less work in the long run and less chance of a problem than trying to move scripts and reconfigure configurations to use a new domain.
