Hi,
I have a CRELoaded website (OScommerce type website) that has a large database of items. about 170 MB uncompressed. Other hosts have no problem with loading such databases on shared servers. Will hostgator cause a problem? Specifically I'm looking not to get errors like when I backup/restore my databases: Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 262144) (tried to allocate xxxxxxx bytes) Thanks in advance. |

only limitation here is CPU 25% usage,
and the mysql 25 simultaneous connection. ![]() ps.here is using 4GB memory.

Well I guess my suspicions were right! Check the attachment for the error.
Any suggestions? |

Here's the quote from "tech support":
'The problem there is that the database using up the max allocated memory for PHP, there is not a way to increase this. Really, the only way to get around this would be to upgrade to a semi-dedicated or dedicated server, where there is more memory available for these types of functions.' Surprising that this works on crappier hosts! |

Which is why they are crappier hosts.
They allow users to use more resources than what will cause problems for others in the shared enviroment. You have outgrown shared hosting and need to consider a more powerful solution or use a different method to backup your DB.
