Unfortunately, there appears to be a massive attack on the magnum server. We are doing everything in our power to mitigate this attack. However, it is too large for the guard and server block to handle. You may notice slow sites reported by your clients. We are aware of this issue and encourage you to keep updated through this forum post. If you have any particular issues that you need addressed, please feel free to contact support@hostgator.com.

Request failures began at 18:30 hrs yesterday and server loads are still so high they are causing almost all our sites to fail. I appreciate this is a significant attack but 16 hours later there seems to be no improvement - to all intents and purposes all our client sites have been down for that period and quite rightly they are complaining. With a view to managing expectations, are you able to offer any ETA on when a resolution may be found?

I apologize about the inconvience, we have taken steps to mitigate this, and have moved sites that were not the source of the attack to a new IP address temporarily to address the issue. Unfortunately, this means that any cached DNS requests will still likely point to the IP address that is still under attack, however, new requests should point to the temporary IP address. If you are still experiencing some issues, I would encourage you to send in a request to support@hostgator.com, so that we can see if there might be some further steps we might be able to take with your sites to help, however, please understand that this may be limited due to the fact that the attack is still ongoing.

The attack is still being directed towards the main IP of the server. All sites should currently be on random shared IPs. If your site is not working, please contact support so we can guide you in the right direction. Customers who use custom dns servers and point their domain to the main IP of the server will likely have this issue. If your site is slow or file downloads are canceling prematurely, please email support so we can look into it further. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this time.

Although many sites were migrated to new IPs they also seem to be back up under the original IP again now. Can you please update us on this event and what (if anything) can and will be done to avoid any re-occurence? Thank you.
