Managed Servers VS Unmanaged Servers !!

now that i got good information out of my first post on

i'd like to know ...some stuff about unmanaged servers ..

as i read in one of the threads somewhere here on the forum ..

that i can have an unmanaged server..

what differences would i have ??

Price wise !

knowledge wise !

Risks !

any other things you think i should know ...

I will just point out that even if HostGator do not show the unmanaged dedicated server on their dedicated servers webpage they still offer it for half the price of the managed one...

I also agree that if Blue ask for the differences he should ellect for a managed one!

yeah unmanaged server is basicly you rent a server....they provide the hardware do an inital setup and provide internet and power....that is all

Stick to manage server.

Even If I have a few dedicated servers and VPS for clients, I still prefer having managed service on all of them. Even if I did learn a lot and fast, you will always bump your head onto a question or issue and you would need to pay some big bucks to have a SysAdmin working onto your server. Starting at a minimum of $60+USD/hour...

Manage server cost a bit more but it would take you just a few hosting client to manage to cover the extra cost isn't it?

It is up to you but I strongly suggest to stay with managed server.
