Today you implemented a new policy/restriction regarding contact forms. It had the effect of making sites that used to work suddenly not work -- without warning, our potential customers cannot reach us to do business.
Fortunately I happened to be browsing the forums and found the notice so I could change my site to meet your new policies. My potential customers certainly couldn’t have contacted me to tell me they were having trouble with my site… my contact page didn’t appear! How would I know there was a problem other than randomly testing a page I had already thoroughly tested? I think we can help alleviate this class of problem (which shouldn’t arise too often) by creating an opt-in email list for SysAdmins so you can push out information informing us that something has changed in a way that could break a tested, properly functioning, production-status website. It would be kinder and more efficient for your customers than posting a notice in a forum and hoping we happen to look for it that day. I would sure like to get those kinds of messages directly from you. Thanks for listening, --Ken |

I agree with the opt-in list. I would really like to see that as well.
However, in the meantime, you can subscribe to the 'Announcement' forum by going to the forum, and under 'Forum Tools'(located above the thread list) choose 'Subscribe to This Forum'. While it's not the ideal solution, it's currently better than nothing. Just thought I would add that. |
