I signed up for a VPS with HostGator on the recommendation from The Planet. I am an Australian Hosting provider who needed a small system in the US for clients.
Firstly, your sales staff sold me the wrong product. They incorrectly advised that the Reseller package could integrate with WHMCS and do DNS Clustering. Secondly, I then signed up for the VPS product and was told it would take 2 hours to set up. Over 12 hours later it was still not done! After numerous phone calls and support tickets, the so called automated provisioning didn't happen and this had to manually occur. Not only this, the support tech couldn't follow the simple instructions in a ticket as to the setup and messed this up too. The VPS was secured as badly as swiss cheese. An absolute joke to the companies integrity of their network. Upon spending 12 hours on a support ticket session to Cpanel for a DNS Clustering issue, we find out the HostGator network is blocking outbound ports. Great! Now I have spent a further 3 hours on the phone, only to send a log to a so called senior tech who can't read the bloody thing, and is now telling me the logs are from another server! How the hell can you magically change the source and destination! This has been an absolute disaster start to my dealing with HostGator, and I am at the end of my tether and ready to tell you to jam it square up your A$$ as the level of support and chinese whispers between techs has been an absolute joke. Explaining the whole thing 10 times, for the tech to relay it to another tech, to another tech, to another tech and still get is wrong is just down right frustrating and completely wrong. Hopefully someone with some authority reads this and firmly puts a foot up someones arse for the absolute mess that has been caused.
