Hi,
I have a site currently running in a different place, but I am not happy with the mailing list handling, so I plan to transfer the domain to a new hosting service. Since mailing lists are critical to my site operation, I would like to know if hostgator.com would be able to handle a domain with two mailing lists: 1. a discussion list, unmoderated, approx. 700 subscribers, 15 kB message limit (sometimes lifted for important messages), usually 5-10 messages/day. 2. an announcement list, moderated, approx. 200 subscribers, forwarded to the previous list (so effectively approx. 900 subscribers), 15 kB message limit, usually a few messages per week. The lists may grow over time, but by 10-20% at most. Web site traffic is pretty low, so it sould not be a problem here. So the questions are: 1. Would hostgator.com be able to host the domain? 2. If there is some hourly message limit, are the messages over the limit delayed or dropped? 3. Wouldn't the message processing too resource-consuming (assuming we use mailing list software supported by hostgator.com), and if it happens, would the domain be shut down (the current hosting company has done it without warning, and without any solution to this problem)? 4. What mailing list software/version do you support? 5. Whould it be possible to transfer the existing list archives? (We are caurrently using Mailman 2.1.5)? Thanks, Artur |

I'd be interested in a HostGator reply to this message. I have a double-opt-in mailing list of about 1250 to whom I send a weekly community newsletter.
