Mail Server Stuff

Lately we've been having customers whining and complaining about emails sent not being received. The philistines don't report it till months later and are coming from Shaw and KMTS (our two local ISP's who we've had problems with their outgoing server many times) so that's not really an issue.

After all this we did have a problem with an SPF record which made the boss guy EXTREMELY p**sed off. That was fixed promptly. It was awesome that after I submitted the ticket and went into live chat, the tech support took it to the abuse department and went and spoke to them whilst I was in chat, instead of making me wait.

Then today a client didn't get a deal maker or breaker email, and the boss flipped out. We were about two hours from switching our hosting away from Hostgator depending on the problem. Submitted a ticket and went into live chat, and they did the same thing - gave it to the level 3 support team manager.

They gave me a log of the email in question after about ten minutes - it turned out to be the OTHER person's problem. So all is well...

And just wanted to say, despite my *****ings about Brent's experiment, and the way this board is run, I am... and my boss is still grateful for the service we receive from Hostgator. Well done Gators.
