Yep it would be nice to know what is going on.

We did a security update on all the servers and forgot to allow port 26
If you're still having a problem please post and try using port 25 for time being. There are a couple servers we probably missed with this fix.

I am having this issue for the past few weeks. At times the email works and then it doesn't. I have changed the port to 25 to 26 and back again hoping this would take care of the issue. It has not. Any ideas????
As always, Hostgator support is awesome. Find out that it is not a Hostgator problem. My ISP blows! Here is the link for the email issue..... Please refer to the Microsoft documentation for this error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/191687 . It seems your ISP is blocking some ports needed for email.

Sorry to hear about the issue, but I was happy to discover that it didn't date back two years, (like the rest of the thread).
I guess it's true what they say about everything being relative, as this is one of the few occasions where you can actually be pleased to have a new problem.

The solution is to simply use your ISP's SMTP server. It solves all of the port problems. (Or change ISPs... if you are like me, that's not an option) |
