Hello everyone!
We have been made aware of issues both sending and receiving email for our clients located on the Mirage server. The error message many of you may have seen is... Technical details of permanent failure: PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 550-Verification failed for <hostgatortestemail@gmail.com> 550-unrouteable mail domain "gmail.com" 550 Sender verify failed Which we originally attributed to an issue with the /etc/resolv.conf and failures in DNS resolution. However it would seem that that was not correct. Their was actually three separate issues that all played into each other... The first issue was that the exim install had become corrupt. When we tried to force a re-install we were greeted with a corrupt rpm database. At this point I went ahead and discarded the rpm database and rebuilt it. Then we were unable to install exim due to DNS resolution issues so we updated the resolv.conf. Finally many user accounts had mailboxes with improper permissions, another issue we resolved. So, the bottom line is that all the mail issues with mirage should be resolved. Our apologies (and my personal apologies) to anyone who was told that the issue was fixed earlier when it was not. We have sent and received several test messages on the server and everything appears to be in order. If anyone see that same "550-unrouteable mail domain" error please let us know right away and we'll investigate the matter without hesitation. Our thanks to everyone for their patience. If anyone has any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing HostGator! Best Regards, Robert Stone |
