Default magento e-commerce samples

Reading through the forums I don't see much positive information about magento.

But, I just got off the chat with tech support here and they said, "no problem, lots of customers run it"

Anyone have any Magento sites on HG servers that they could share so I can see how performance is? If so, could you post the plan you have it on also.

I was thinking of moving a shop with 500+ items and don't want to run into performance issues.

Cheers..

But unless other variables are similar to your site, such as traffic, other scripts, actual transactions handled, and many, many others, you can't make a valid comparison.

Since extensive testing before moving an active e-commerce is essential, and HG has a 45-day money back guarantee, you could get an account, and start testing...if you didn't like it, upgrade or refund. If you did, move the live site.

Edited: I just noticed your early join date, which suggests you already have an HG account.

Yep, old-timer here.

I realize there may be small differences in shops but I was hoping to get a rough idea.

The work involved in getting that number of products in a sandbox solution is quite the undertaking and I didn't want to go through it as a test if it's going to be an obvious problem.

Can't you just transfer the files and dump the db? Wouldn't that give you an idea?
