How Long It Take To Set Dns?

hi all
48+ hours are passed since i buyed an hosting package + domain and i still cant get into the cpanel from my site url " www.mysite.com/cpanel ", i can only do it trought the ip address and also ftp does work only if i put the ip address... whats the probelm? i uploaded index.html to the main directory to test my site out but it doesnt work... any suggestions?
i contact the assistance yesterday and he said that is the dns that is not propagated and the company will do it for me... but 48+ hours are passed so im starting worrying...



what is can be? please help
ps. this is not the first company i tryed so im not really a beginner..

If the nameservers for your domain are correctly set then you just have to wait.

actually i didnt set the nemeservers and i cant figure out how to set them.. they said that they do all things for me to make my site run?

Go to http://www.dnsstuff.com/ and enter your domain name in the WHOIS Lookup form (left side 3rd from top) and check the nameserver entries. If they are not correct you should contact HG support.

oh well it says "NOT FOUND" !

now i have setn the following email to support@hostgator.com ...

" hi, 48+ hours are passed since i bought an hosting package + domain name and my site still inactive! yesterday the online assistance said that the DNS is not propagated yet but now are passed 3 days and i have read that it take 24 to 48 hours to being set up, also they said that they will do all things for me and i dont need to set the DNS by myself.. CORRECT!? how long i need to wait to have my site run?

I just checked and it propagated for me, and looking up the whois it shows:
Name Server:NS127.HOSTGATOR.COM
Name Server:NS128.HOSTGATOR.COM
as the DNS servers, so if you can't see it yet,
blame your ISP and there DNS servers not updating......
At this point it is NOT HG's problem

You might try over-riding your DNS settings on our router and see if you can see it using HG's DNS servers.
