First, I would like to say that I already know I am out of my league. But, I am determined to get my new domain set-up because I am possitive that it will be at least a mediocre success. It could go over big if I could just get it online before someone else thinks of it.
I have a site with hostgator already. I used the site builder to create it. I was not completely happy with the restrictions that using a template created, so the site doesn't look anything like I wanted it to. It took me forever to realize that simply using Internet Explorer enabled the rich text editor that my FireFox wouldn't. The only other problem I have had with HG is that although support tickets are answered promptly and courteously, no matter how much I stress that I am new to all this, my questions never seem to be fully answered. I purchased another domain name and it has been released. It is imperative that the three pages I need for this venture look a particular way. This retired truck-driver is not a complete idiot and has been able to create the pages I want using Netscape Navigator. I have finally gotten to the point. I have spent seven hours today reading email replies, forums and trying to upload my webpages. It seems that I am making a total mess of it all. Is there anyone that can tell me in layman's terms, ALL the steps required to accomplish this task that I am sure comes as second nature to 3/4 of you? PLEASE! In return I can teach you to load, secure and haul steel from one end of America to the other. Thanks Janet Last edited by janetatwell; 03-10-2007 at 02:27 PM. Reason: Misspellings |

If so, here's a list of steps. If you need additional help with a specific step, Reply about it and I, or someone, will try to help further. 1 - Login to your HG account. cPanel is presented; 2 - Click on "File Manager" icon; 3 - Click the yellow folder icon next to "public_html"; 4 - Click the black up-arrow icon next to the text "Upload File(s)"; 5 - Click on a gray "Browse..." button; 6 - In the window that pops up, navigate to the loaction of the files you want to upload, select a file, and click on "Open"; 7 - Repeat steps 5 & 6 for as many files as you need to uplaod; 8 - When finished repeating steps 5 & 6, click on "Upload". That's it; the files are uploaded. |

Hi Janet,
I found this page here http://www.inspiredwordart.com/subpage1.html, from the website in your profile (nice looking classic KW W-900 you drove ). Does this mean you are up and running, or is it a different site your trying to get up? Do you have your website constructed, and functioning on your computer, and just need to upload it?As eLIANT says, cpanels file manager is one way to upload, another is a FTP program. Are you familiar with that term? Just trying to get a handle where to start. Do you have your domain name's DNS setting set to what HG told you to use in your welcome email. If you could post the domain name it would help out all who try and help you . BTW, I've been driving since age 19, part time, just as part of farming operations. Started out on a single axle GMC Astro (it even hurts to remember..), up to KW Areodyne W-900 like your's. Now it's just a KW T-600.... www.tomowa.com/t600. If I can be of any help, just holler back, though tomorrow I'll be away all day Tom |
