The the delay was because the wrong drive was replaced. We are 100% sure we reported correctly to theplanet and they are 100% sure they did the drive we told them. what does this mean? we may never know..........

Once they put the right drive in the server booted up instantly, however the server still degraded which means a drive will be going in the next 24 hours resulting in 30mins of downtime or so.

they cannot possibly do this again since there is an actual hole where the drive will go =)

You can tell your people that even the best systems some times crash. Inform them that it would be far safer if the colocated on two servers. (ie paid you double for hosting.)
