If I was a hosting company, hostgator would be my girlfriend.

I've written a review before, but think a repeat one is warranted. I had a HORRENDOUS nearly three years with Fasthosts. They're the largest windows host in Europe.

Their support technicians knew next to nothing and would many times tell you something should be happening one way even when you told them you have proof it's happening a different way.

Getting custom modules installed was flatly out of the question and would never happen. If there was a problem with a script and you thought it was a server problem and told them.. they'd say 'no it isn't.... here's the proof'... but wouldn't make any attempt to help solve the problem. The sheer inflexibility and crappy support made me want to physically go to their headoffice and have a heated debate about their quality of service many times.

For the one year that I've been with hostgator I've been trying to get Fasthosts to stop billing my friend's credit card to stop some old domains renewing. over the last month I sent four faxes, spent about $90 in phone calls and about 30 emails to try and get them to close my account because I didn't have the old administrative email available. Only when i threatened to call the police on them for credit card theft did they do something.

The reason why I'm explaining this is because quite simply I've not had any of these type problems with Hostgator.

One time a swamp hosted shared account went down for 15 minutes about 6months ago on my work's reseller... and then all of the domains under my work reseller had a whole bunch of different problems due to that phpsuexec thing. I wasn't too happy about the error pages thing but that got changed right away. Aside from that.. both myself and my boss are extremely happy with Hostgator.

They've installed custom modules more than a few times for my work which was just awesome - as a lot of other hosts don't do that. One time there was a script that wasn't working all of a sudden.. when this phpsuexec happened it stopped working. I submitted a ticket... and it turned out NOT to be the server. But the support technician fixed it anyway - it was going above and beyond when he really didn't have to that made me appreciate Hostgator.

Suffice to say I'm well chuffed about the service from Hostgator. It's great that they actually listen to their customer's opinions. Great job guys.

On another note... I was speaking to Mike in my office and we both agreed that if Brent and Lance can afford a Corvette , then they should trade them in and get an Aston Martin DB9 or a Jaguar XK8.
