Question How will I know when domain names have propagated?

I don't think I've received everything I need to have for my first domain name - orowards.com I have access to cpanel, the site builder, and some of the forum but I was under the impression I was supposed to receive another email with more info?? Am I right, or am i missing something? Also, today I bought 3 more domain names from GoDaddy - I changed the name servers immediately. How long until they propogate and what should I expect? Thanks

orowards.com shows for me....... ya could do with an index file though.

they say upto 48hrs for dns propegation, eg after you change your nameservers, this though I believe to be the max, I have seen some propegate in under an hour..........

if you quote to someone max 48hrs then ya safe

Thanks for the reply - any idea why I haven't received a verification email? I'm really anxious for info on how to get started and can't quite put the whole process together.

In fact, just noticed my "header" here still says "Awaiting Activation". What does that mean exactly and why does it take so long?

Open command prompt and type this command:
Code:
nslookup orowards.com
if it gives the IP of the server you are in (that you find in the email you got from HG) then you know it's propagated

Thanks for the great ideas. Recently, I made the move and wanted to know when the DNS propagation had started. It's my custom to have a button and link to my current host on my home web page. (I really need to join the Affiliate program) The HostGator logo started appearing hours after the DNS was changed. I'm paid up through June with my old host so I'm just leaving it for now.

verification that dns has propegated??? you wouldn`t get an email for that, simply visiting your site would confirm it... you can always do from a command prompt ping domainname.com for example and see whay the IP address is
