I have three domains. My hosting will be expiring and I'm ready to change hosts. You've come recommended.
It's my understanding from reading the site the following but I wanted to be sure just in case I had overlooked anything. I can order a plan and host all three FULL domains on that plan, sharing the space and bandwidth among them, correct? Now, do I get three seperate logins then for each? I want them full domains, not just mirrors. Currently, I have two shared under one plan on my other host and I have seperate logins for each. I just want to ensure each ends up with their own seperate ftp/mail logins. I also can turn around and have unlimited subdomains on each of the three full domains, right? So I can have sub.domainone.com and sub.domaintwo.com for example. Or, is the directory name limited across the three so that there can be no duplicates? (say I wanted the subdomain "blog" could I have it on both domainone.com AND domaintwo.com?) Also, for subdomains, can I get limited access login? For example, I want to let a friend have a blog on my domain. Can I get up friend.domainone.com and give "friend" a directory specific ftp login? My catch all email address I assume is my default login? So that hey@domainone.com and yesyou@domainone.com and whatever else will all default to my catch-all. (As opposed to any specific email address I create to check independantly with it's own login.) And, last question for the moment (I'm sure I'll think of more, but I just want to make sure it's what I think it is and not just what I'm used to and therefore assuming is the same), are you servers on-site? If not, where are they and what is the access to them in the event of reboot issues? I had a host in the past based out of Texas but the server farm was in Washington or something and we were down for over 12 hours because no one could be reached onsite at the farm to reboot the servers. I appreciate the information. -Miss M. Turner missm@giveneyestosee.com |

I was wondering why no one has answered this post? It has been a few days now. I am looking at other web hosting companies and came across Host Gator and noticed this forum VERY RESTRICTED. I then saw this post unanswered and was wondering why?
What is the point in restricting your forum to just Host Gator customers only? Is it because yall have major server problems and only "customers" can see them and you are worried that it will scare potentional customers away???? This forum being "RESTRICTED" is enough to scare a lot of customers away!!! |

Having the Forum RESTRICTED makes me wonder what yall are "HIDING"!!!!! If you have nothing to HIDE whey restricted the forum. I have checked out several other web hosting sites and yall are the FIRST to have the forum RESTRICTED!!!
I have also noticed that a LOT of other people have complained about it being restricted!! You should "LISTEN" to your possible potentional customers!!! |

Chill dude. There's nothing secret in the forums. It just keeps them clean and on track if they are exclusive. Take a deep breath

I am not Angry!! Just don't like the fact that the forum is RESTRICTED!! If people monitored the forum it could be kept on track and restricting it has nothing to do with it.

Basically, you would have to set up two addon domains for the same site because if you try to add two blog subdomains, they will be identical. So, you would add the addon domains domaintwo, domainthree, blog.domaintwo and blog.domainthree. This will work because the folder is determined by the username you select, not the subdomain name.
