and I'm having the hardest time figuring out what i need to do to get started...i've watched all the tutorials and read all i've come across...i had sitestudio installed as i don't know how to write code...i think i have my current DN moved to the HG nameservers..now i guess i will wait a couple of days for things to get settled?

there are two parts to transferring a site...moving the files/email/database stuff, if you have it, and switching your domain name over to point to the new location.
if you have a cpanel account at your old host, ask hg to transfer your site files for you. this is by far the easiest way to go. either you did change the nameservers on your domain or you didn't. if you're not sure, i'm guessing you didn't, because it has to be done specifically. but you don't want to do that until you have the site set up on hostgator. i always allow about a week over overlap time when moving hosts to allow for everything to be worked out.
