So I am pretty new to cPanel (used plesk and command line for several years) and my request may be more the limitations of cPanel then of what Hostgator can do but I thought I would offer them up anyways.
1. DNS Management. Currently I use google site aps for some of my domains and the ability to setup cname records and more then 3 MX records would be great. I know I can use an external dns host, and I do, but it would be nice to be able to do all of it from within one hosting control panel. 2. Some way to disable the automatic subdomain creation for addon domains. While I know the subdomains do not actively show your addon domains content by default, not having them there in the first place would be nice as they create a lot of clutter within the control panel that is unnecessary. 3. an @(all domains) or @(selected domains) option for email. I have several parked domains where I just want to forward the admin@/info@ email address for those domains to another email address and it would be nice to do it all at once as apposed to creating each individual email address for 50+ domains. 4. Domain aliases. That way we could at the .net/.org or alternate spelling domains to an existing domain without having to set it up as an addon domain and creating unnecessary subdomains/ftp users. I think that pretty much sums it up thus far. Thanks for your time. Last edited by Warp; 12-01-2008 at 03:50 PM. |

Hi Warp,

If you need more MX records, though, just ticket support with the MX hostnames and preference order and they can add as many as you'd like. Quote:

Wow thanks for the fast response. I will definitely put in a request with cPanel.. As far as the Parked domains goes, unfortunately it doesnt allow you to specify the root directory for that domain so if you wanted to alias it to an addon domain you couldnt do that other then using a redirect or setting it up as an addon domain pointing to the same doc root as the domain you want it aliased to. I am definitely planning on upgrading to a dedicated service in the future, so until then I can live with the few limitations I have encountered. Thanks

Ah, I didn't realize you wanted to park on the addon-- sorry!
Have you considered adding the domain as a parked, and then using cPanel's redirect function to bring it to the addon? This way you don't need a new user. -Matt
