I can use two methods of payment at sign up correct? (Getting Unmanaged dedicated)
I'm rejoining hostgator friday and have two different methods of payment at the moment (credit card and paypal) Also to be sure: My friend has a business PayPal account under his name, and the credit card under my parents name (I'm only 14.), will this be any issue? If it is, is there any way to transfer donated money from his paypal to a credit card?

If you mean, transfer from your friend's PayPal account to your parents' credit card, your parents will probably have to get a paypal account of their own and do it that way. |

I'm moving from a VPS to a dedi, so I think none of that will be a problem, as most of it is defaults with custom security updates.
My parents do not want a PayPal though. =/ Is it possible to use two different names without the hostgator system spitting out a fraud detection? (probably will have to make sure hostgator staff knows about it before hand right?) I may have a idea how to get it to work..possibly donating to the Paypal to my friends account and then just paying from there? What would the fee be for a $50 donation to a paypal account?

This is odd... I thought I made a reply here yesterday, answering the above question directly. Owell, I'll try again.
First, your question is a *tiny* bit confusing in the way you worded it. I can't tell exactly how you intend to affect this transaction. But here's some generic info: To send money, there is never a charge. If your friend pays HG directly with his Paypal account, there is no fee to HIM, for that one transaction. The fee is deducted from the amount that HG receives. If your parents use a "regular" (non-Paypal) credit card to send money to your friend's business account (so that he can then send it to HG), your friend would be charged 1.9% to 2.9%, plus 30 cents, for receipt of that money. On a $50.00 transfer *TO* him, he would be charged ~ $1.25 if it falls under the 1.9% category, and ~ $1.80 if it falls under the 2.9% category (but there are a couple exceptions, as noted below). If your parents have a Paypal account of their own, and use their existing "Paypal Balance", a Paypal-branded Credit Card, or an E-check to make the transfer, then your friend would not be charged anything for that transaction. I hope that's what you mean, and answers your questions. Last edited by RainbowViper; 06-09-2008 at 11:39 AM. |

That does answer some of my question (sorry to word it in a confusing way, was exhausted when I typed the question) but would it be possible to pay from two different names (eg: my friends paypal being a secondary payment method and my parent's credit card as the primary method.) without a "Fraud Detection" set on my account? I think that would have to be answered by HostGator sales/support.

I don't know, since that's an accounting/policy question which Hostgator would have to answer. I'd suggest calling Sales?

Never mind, looks like my parents have decided to use a different family member's paypal. I've transferred the funds to that account..
Thanks everyone. This can be closed or deleted (Whichever HG prefers)
