I've installed a domain into my new resellers account, and installed joomla using fantastico.
The following files are chmod 777 from fantastico installation. cache components images language mambots media modules templates If I change to 755, will Joomla still work properly? |

I'm not sure why you don't just do it via cpanel and try it out...
You'd think code savvy Joomla devs would know the difference between 777 and 755 though.... QuietFinn has umpteen Joomla and Mambo installs, he and others should be along shortly... It's easy enough to test though...switch it test...if not switch it back.... Oh...and if it was that easily exploitable everyone would know about it pretty quivkly and a patch woulfd be in the works in no time...most those boards take security very serously since it has such an impact on reputation... |

1st, all those are directories, not files.
And as khepri said, why don't you just try ![]() Actually I just tried to change those in a test site, and caching does not work of course, but otherwise it seems to be ok. Anyway I suppose you can't install component/modules/mambots with those permissions.
