Default Joomal pre-sales question

I am looking to sign up for shared hosting with Hostgator, but had a few questions first.

1. Does Hostgator allow the use of Joomla 1.5, or do I have to wait for stable release?

2. Has anyone had problems enabling Joomla's SEF URL's?

3. Since this will be my first time running a website are there any tips as to what I can do administratively so that my site has a lower likelyhood of negatively impacting others on the server?

Thanks

Make sure you don't run out-of-control scripts, or mass mail

If you have problems with Joomla's SEF it's not because of the server. You should not have any problems with Joomla 1.0.x SEO, but Joomla 1.5 SEO has been troublesome, and that's a Joomla problem, most likely it has nothing to do with the server.

quietFinn is right.... its a joomla config problem.

i can only speak to 1.0x... not 1.5 but as i've been doing joomla for only a couple months, i've been able to get SEF Url's working fine on several sites. i use sh404SEF and other than a couple obscure littel tweaks it worked right away.

in short... if i can do it, its pretty straight forward.
