I think phone support would be a good idea for you britbob, since you need to contact HG as soon as you see a problem. Try Voice over IP for a cheaper call, something like sipgate.co.uk if you're here (is that what britbob means?) or I'm sure there's another viable option for wherever you are. Need a mic of some kind, on a webcam or whatever. Not ideal to need to get it, but may save you some headaches on this issue...

I also have noticed a "slow down" on jetta, even getting my e mail timed out.
Please fix whatever is causing the problem--I hate complaining

Last night, one of my clients (but fortunately also one of our support staff) complained about FTP and e-mail while instant messaging me. So I checked to see if my mail and ftp worked, and they worked perfectly fine. I don't understand this problem at all.

This was around 10:00 US eastern time last night.

It might be some problem to the DC from where you live. We have been seeing no problems from Jetta.

The second there is a problem on any server we get tons of calls.

You can call our 800-number which is free to report it the second it is happening refer to this thread and ask for me if I am not available to explain the situation to who is.

Actually it hasn`t been too bad today, until the last few minutes my email is once again timing out, and my forums are struggling again!

The frustrating thing is, as I keep on saying, this may only last a few minutes, or maybe more. By the time HG has been alerted, the problem is gone and HG just assume everything is fine and we are just whining!

I called HostGator, and they said they got reports of it 5 or 10 minutes ago, and they are working on it, but the person I spoke with on the phone didn't know the issue.

Unfortunately not; the server has not actually been down. It is only down when the sites are totally inaccessible, and that has not been the case too often.

Bob,

The problem is, that if it only in small intervals, and that they don't see it right away, it's not always that simple to figure out WHAT exactly the problem was.

I can understand your frustrations however, and hopefully they can nail down the issue.

Oh sure, I understand that.

That`s why I have given up reporting it, as it seems a waste of time. No one at HG is going to pick it up when it only last between five and fifteen minutes. By the time I have written a ticket, or got through to someone it will probably have settled again.

I`ll give credit, all my sites have been running smooth today apart from the odd email blip. I hope I haven`t cursed it by saying that :O

Here's what I think might have been it...

Top Process %CPU 3.2 httpd [www..com] [/robots.txt]
Top Process %CPU 2.7 httpd [www.com] [/robots.txt]

It was reporting 40% memory usage. Now here's the weird thing...

This site was suspended days ago when everyone first started complaining yet days later usage was still showing up. Everyone seemed to have stopped complaining once I deleted their DNS zone. On top of that robots.txt was deleted days ago as well yet the usage kept saying it was being used. very weird.......

If the problems come back let me know.

same here - actually been having difficulty connecting over the last 48-72 hrs, just timing out, not allowing ports to open (active ftp). Wasn't sure if there was a connection issue - changed location now, and there are still problems here so it seems unlikely. email timeouts galore now.

Update:
I was likely having connection issues, checked with ISP, and the email issues now are an exim failiure. High cpu loads too, hence slow load times.

My email has been garbage all morning. It`s sad that I cannot rely on my emails anymore

My main sites have been fine for several days, so I cannot complain there. My emails and ftp are a different story. I have got used to it now Just hope my clients don`t start complaining.

Everything's been fine for me. Earlier some pages loaded a bit slowly, but not for very long. i've been receiving emails faithfully all day.

Well, that`s that then.

I`ve had a few good days, but it appears things are back to normal. My emails are timing out (nearly all day) and my sites (all of them) are painfully slow at times in the last few hours. Two emails from clients, and several from my forum members asking why the site is so slow lately.

My email has been down most of the morning, having to rely on my isp email addresses again. The email service is terrible.

I can`t even be bothered to ask support what is wrong, because it will be the generic reply `everything should be fine now`.
