Default ISP blocking access?

First off, I'm in China and the ISP is China Telcom Broadband. Have a reseller acount and for some reason today I can't access the main domain, nor any sites on the account.. Nor can I access the control panels for any sites/ user accounts, even WHM.

Tried pinging my ip address, and get "request timed out"

However, if I dial in to dial up ISP in Hong Kong, no problem with any of it..

Did chat with Clay from support, he can access the whole ball of wax, but from here, nada. For that matter, I can't even get hostgator to come up, I"m doing this through dial up/Hong Kong/ Not cheap.

Any help or ideas appreciated. On server Vito, domain www.dgnethosting.com

Thanks
Bob

Bob,

I can't say for sure what's causing this but I would recommend you start pleading with the ISP right away to look into the matter.

This looks like a case of their zone records being out of date or somehow missing data, and it can take a long hard time to convince them that the problem might be at their end.

I've been told by many ISPs that they do not have the ability to actually "block" you from accessing a specific IP or server.

I have heard of "dead hops", where a connection has gone bad somewhere between you and the server and no rerouting has been established.

But for me, most often, it's turned out to be the zone records thing.

Good Luck!

I am in the US, but I have this problem regularly with Road Runner (Time Warner Cable). They are horrible about their zone file updates. I have brought this to their attention several times, but they just don't seem to get it. Good luck, maybe your ISP will actually listen and do something about it.
