Default IRC question

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere;

From the TOS agreement:

"Users may not initiate the following:
....
b) Run any type of interactive real-time chat applications that require server resources. Remotely-hosted services are fully allowed.
c) Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
d) Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network. "

I'm just wondering if this is for all packages or only for certain ones? I run an IRCD server at my current host, and am considering a live chat client. HostGator's hosting is better than my current, but I don't really want to give up these services and can't afford to use two hosting companies!

Thanks

Oh, another quick question: Do any of the "web hosting" packages come with a dedicated IP?

Thanks

HostGator does not allow IRC unless you're on a dedicated box. This is so you don't use as much resources and the other people on the server don't have problems. I wonder though, if they would allow it on a semi-dedicated box. :?

It was to my understanding that theplanet did not like IRC boxes. Though if you had a dedicated box Im sure you could talk with them, as I have a couple friends that have worked out some deals with them. Also the dedicated box would have a dedicated ip (i believe), but the shared hosting accounts dont(not sure about the semi dedicated).

Ahh no worries, I've spoken to a friend who's kindly offered to keep my little IRCD running for me in his server, so I should be able to move over without a hitch. Other than that minor detail the plans here are much better than other similar hosts
