Hello
I would like to transfer my existing domain (co.uk) over to my new account. In order to transfer (hosting companies policy) I need an IPS tag for the company I am transfering the domain to. Changing the DNS of the domain name is something which the current hosting company won't do. What I need is the IPS for hostgator. Can anybody tell me what this is or where I can find it? Thanks Oli |

We do not sell co.uk domain names nor have a way for you to transfer them to us. It doesn't matter who you transfer the domain name to...
We recommend joining one of the many co.uk registars out there then just pointing the dns to ours.

What does this mean in practice?
Would I have to pay for another company to host the domain who can then redirect the domain to you guys? I was looking for kind of a one-stop-shop. co.uk will be important for myself and my clients. Oli I'm impressed by the fast response by the way. |

If I understand you right you are a bit mixing things...
You're confused with transfer and "pointing" the domain...If that's the case then I can say that I had the same problem... Transfering: There are many registrars in the world and if you buy your domain there then that's the "home" of your domain..this is where domain "lives".. Pointing: is just when you say to what server will domain point("home" is still "home" but it points to other server).. In case you have to renew your domain you go to the place where you bought it right!? So if you want to change the "home" of the domain then you're transfering the domain...see the difference betwean "transfering" and "pointing" !? one practical example... you buy one domain at (example) www.domains.com and then you decide to host that domain at Gator..then you'll have the www.domain.com as a "home" and you point your domain to Gator's nameservers.... you then change the hosting to OtherHost and then you have to point the domain to their namservers...(but domain is still home at www.domains.com).. There is another registrar www.mydomains.com and you buy 10 domains there and you want to have your one domain at www.domain.com to be "home" where all your other domains are...then you will TRANSFER the domain from www.domains.com to www.mydomains.com ... Huh...I must say that I'm not english native speaker so I hope that I made myself clear ...I'm not sure if that's ok on this forum but I can help you with the "home" for your domain...we are the registrar company and can offer the registration up to 30 different TLD (top level domain) including co.uk ... In that case we would be the "home" for your domains from the story above ![]() Apart from "normal" registration we offer API registration for ISP's and developers...contact me via PM or via e-mail for more info and I'll be glad to assist you.. I hope that helped... |

One of the best tips you can ever get when purchasing a domain name is NEVER purchase the domain from your host. So you'll purchase the domain name at somewhere like ...
http://www.registersite.com After you purchase the domain from them you purchase the hosting from us. Once hosting is purchased you get directions on what to do at registersite.com It's all real easy when you take it one step at a time.
