Im not up to scratch on dedicated servers

But learning before i go and get one :P i was just woundering what are the ips for i seen some with 1 and 5 ?
would one do the trick

For a dedicated server, you need at least two IPs. You get five.

Are you asking why 2 IP's, or what are IP's FOR???

Your dedicated comes with 5.

One for the server domain, and the other for the NS2.

NS1yourdomain.com
NS2yourdomain.com

If you will add a SSL, you will need another one.

For most cases, one is all you need for all your html websites, but you have the extras in case you need to put one of your websites with a different IP.

In other words,
1 for main IP & NS1
1 for NS2
1 for SSL
2 spares.
