Hi
A couple of pre-sales questions, as I need to get away from my current host, and need to know if I will have any problems with Joomla: - Safe mode: As I can tell from an old post, safe mode is off, is that still the case? - Ioncube loader: Some commercial extensions needs Ioncube to run. I did find an old post, saying this is installed, is this still the case? |

You can not turn PHP's safe_mode ON or OFF in a local php.ini.

And about PHP safe_mode, look here: http://fi2.php.net/manual/en/ini.sect.safe-mode.php The "changeable" column says "PHP_INI_SYSTEM", which means "Entry can be set in php.ini or httpd.conf".

EDIT: Ok seems I was wrong, you CAN turn safe_mode ON in a local php.ini file. But you can't turn it OFF in it's ON in the server's php.ini

So you can turn it on locally, if its off globally, but not the other way around, right?

I read that topic, but as I am not all that into the lingo, I'm not quite sure how to understand it. Does the post say that safe mode is actually on, but can be turned off locally? |

Heh, before getting a headache, I will be satisfied with the fact that safe mode will not be a problem, when I do the move :-)
Thanks and happy new year to all :-) |

No safe mode and or Ioncube will not be a problem. Plus so far I have had great response and help from the support staff. They answered questions quickly and even offered a lending hand in the situation we ran into during our migration to test the servers.
Me and the people working for me are very pleased so far with the service and the support. Plus the tracert and website tests we ran compared to our old host we was with for years was just amazing. Hostgator was twice as fast for overall load times compared to our old provider! Very impressed and happy with it. Good luck to you and happy new years! |
